Happy 4th of July, y’all!!  I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it’s July.  Oh, and also, I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S JULY!!  Where is the summer going?  I’m almost afraid to even blink an eye in anticipation that the rest of it might just fly on by me!

June was full of day camps, week camps, trips to the library, pool, dentist, doctors…no wonder it flew by!  Yet, there were a few days here and there that went on FOR.EV.ER, amiright?  Especially those awesome rainy midwest scorching, I want to leave the house, but I don’t want my hair to catch on fire, or come home soaking wet with my face falling off days.  Whew!  I’m just glad to have a cool and dry home to stay home in!  Aaaand then there’s my daughter who looks up craft hacks on YouTube and turns every box and bottle into some accessory for her dolls or fuzzy one-eyed pompom monsters (her words, not mine!) using google eyes, paint, and pipe cleaners (or fuzzy sticks as Walmart calls them).

What. A. Month.

As I look back on the last month, there were definitely some things that were on repeat in my day (and on my body) that kept me comfortable, clean, safe, and just plain sane!  I would love to share those with you!

Here are my Top 5 Things I’m Loving for the Month of July.

Fashion

I am usually not a shorts wearing person, but there were many days that there was no way I was wearing jeans or pants outside.  I fully anticipate many more of those to come.  That’s why I am IN LOVE with my American Eagle distressed denim shorts.  They are comfortable, casual, and COOL!  And for a stay at home mom like me, they can be the base of almost any outfit during the week (unless I’m headed to church.  I know God wouldn’t mind, but my mom would!!)

The ones I wear are a few years old (hello, minimalist consumerism!), but I found a similar pair just for you!

Family

I love a good family challenge or activity.  This month, we started a save jar.  We placed this amazing sea glass jar in our kitchen and began to add change to it.  Most of this came from our yard sale (yes, in the midst of a cray cray month, I also had a yard sale).  Any time we have or find spare change, we add it to this jar.  When the jar is full, we will do something AS A FAMILY with it.  Since we’ve never done this before, I’m not sure what kind of money will be in there.  I don’t know what to promise the kids-a movie night with ice cream and putt putt or a weekend away at Cedar Lake Lodge?  Only time will tell!  Although, judging by the size of the jar, I’m thinking the former.  Either way, we are doing this as a family, AND I don’t have loose change lying around the house or in my car.  Win win!!  Here is one very similar to ours, and it’s on AMAZON!Large Glass Food Storage Jar by Kitchen Craft

Beauty

I love my beauty products, but it doesn’t matter what products I use if my tools aren’t cleaned properly.  And in months like these where my face nearly melts, it’s important that what I use to apply my makeup is clean!  I LOVE my brush cleaning pad.  It gets my brushes FAR cleaner than I ever did with just rubbing them on my hand.  And it was very inexpensive!  Also, your brushes will last longer if you take good care of them.  I found mine at TJ Maxx, but here is a similar one from Amazon, and it’s less than $5!

Hair

Oh hair.  What would I do without you, but what in the world do I do WITH you?!?  If there was something I could predict less than this midwestern, Ohio Valley weather, it’s the prediction of what my hair is going to decide to do on any given day of these summer months.  Is it going to be full? Flat?  Kink up in the back?  All over?  Will tools work on it?  The questions are endless!  Thankfully, I use Beautycounter’s Smooth and Control Hair Oil that takes a lot of the guess work out of it.  I know that this will tame the frizz, AND I can use it on damp or dry hair!!  When the weather is tame, I use two pumps on damp hair, then I let air dry.  If my hair just needs a reminder to STAND DOWN, I just use one pump and run it through the frizz.  If the weather is a little Wet and Wild, I will add a little hair creme to it for added control and dry it with a diffuser (a curly hair girl’s BFF).  The best part about this hair oil?  It’s formulated with SAFE ingredients AND supports the mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone.  Your hair will thank you, and so will your body!

For the Soul

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I need a good book to rest, relax, and maybe improve upon myself a little bit.  And sometimes I just need to laugh!  That’s why I am LOVING the book Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis.  If you have been hiding under a rock, or been so busy this summer you haven’t looked on your social media, phone or any book seller’s list, then you may not know about this book and it’s fantastic author.  Girl, Wash Your Face is a NY Times Bestseller and is currently Amazon’s #1 book.  Rachel Hollis’s wit, charm, and authenticity will give you someone to root for, and remind yourself that you are awesome (even when you don’t think so).  I highly recommend this book–perfect for that vacay you are taking now that your summer is in full swing! 😉 And, guess what?!?  It’s on Amazon too!!
